The UK has among the highest rates of illegal drug misuse in the western world and there has been a marked increase in drug treatment in primary care over the last few years.
An increase in poly drug use means treatment is more complex and people who use drugs often have a range of health and social care problems. There is also a significant impact of drug misuse on children, families and communities.
The RCGP Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse is an accredited course ideal for GPs working at a generalist level as part of a shared care scheme and for those intending to provide treatment to drug users as part of a locally or nationally enhanced service.
This course is multi-disciplinary and therefore suitable for other Healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists and drugs workers involved in the treatment of problematic drug use.
Service users and carers have also benefited from the learning opportunity that this course provides. Spectrum Learn and Develop is the provider of this RCGP course.
Please note that if you work within a Secure Environment setting, we recommend that you book on to our tailored Drug Misuse Part 1 [Secure Environment] courses. Our other Part 1 courses are focused more on substance misuse management within the community.
